It is with deep regret that the Board of Directors of the SPCFPD accepts the resignation of Deputy Chief Aaron Mandel. Aaron has decided to seek other opportunities that have become available to him. He will remain an active volunteer in the SPCFPD concentrating on the operational needs of the District and will be available for dispatch to Federal or State Wildfire emergencies. Aaron has been and will continue to be a valuable asset to our District.
The Board of Directors has named Lt. Don Felton to replace Aaron Mandel, as Deputy Chief. Don currently has the necessary certifications and training for the position. He is an ex Marine (4 year hitch) and later a Colorado National Guardsman from which he retired as a Special Forces Warrant Officer. His distinguished military career includes a deployment to Afghanistan, following 9/11. He has resided in Guffey since 1986 and has been a volunteer member of our fire district for 5 years. He resides with his wife Barbara in the Four Mile 2600 sub-division..
There will be an overlap period during the month of May, to allow a proper phase out/in for the position. Don Felton will officially take over the Deputy responsibilities as of May 7, 2010 and Aaron Mandel will remain on a paid status until May 31 to assure a proper transfer of responsibilities.
Our District is fortunate to have such a well-qualified replacement to assist Chief Stanley in directing the Fire and Medical Volunteer Staff for our District.
